My Dragon/ Violet Gobies

I always thought dragon gobies were brackish only...

I haven't had problems with my puffer and the gobies there paths don;t ever cross

The monos are lovely and I;d like a shoal one day but they are too big for a 29g

What about knight gobies?

dragong gobies are brackish only (i think they can even be full marine), some people have kept them in freshwater for a few years(like certain cases with monos) but water is hard and the success rate of this is low. Neale recomends(i think) the lowest SG a dragon goby (and monos) can do well in is 1.005sg.

right now i have 2 knight gobies, and an unidentified dull looking goby. THe dragon gobies are straight up pussy cats, they dont bother anyone really (although due to thier size some fish swim out of the way). My krib occasionally feels the urge to nip them and they run back into thier cave. dragon gobies have great tempermant.

and if you want to see thier potential max size (in the wild that is), scroll down the page to see a monster one

Very nice.
My LFS has these as full fresh water though.
Would they be ok in fresh water? Or long term definately brackish?

I'm not an authority on them mate but tried them in freshwater about 8 yrs ago and they struggledand these were in fresh when bough and look a lot better healthier in brackish. I;d say no but you need to ask Dr Neale monks
