i noticed her whilst sat in the front room, ive recently moved my comm fish into a large 120Litre so they have only been there for about 1- 2 weeks (tank was fully cycled)

anyway she started darting into the glass it look horrible! i relised what she had done when i saw the burn :( it nearly covers 1 whole half of her body...she is breathing real heavy and fast, the burn is white in colour,

what can i do for her? ive already started to look for a heater gaurd so thats already sorted! thanks

Are you sure the white marks are definately heater burns.

Half dose some melafix. Not all fish can tolerate the full dose.

if poss maybe put the cory into quarentine and add anti bacterial med to try and prevent any further troubles. also lots of fresh water will help too. :good:

ok, yes im sure its a heater burn i saw one on a fish in the shop only the other day, odd that it suddenly happens to me? i dont have melafix but do have an anti fungle treatment, i cannot use my spare tank for the little girl as my molly is recovering in it :( poor thing....

water changes here they come!

Do you have any myxazin by waterlife.

Ok.
The only other thing is to dab the wound in methylene blue, or do a methylene blue bath in a container.

Or just do plenty of water changes over the next few days.

aye when my hoplo cat burnt itsself i used meth blue neat on the area using a cotton bud, i just lifted him out of the water, I did it every other day and now s/he is fine =]

ok, can i get that stuff from pets at home? would prefer to get my hands on it asap than wait for it to get posted from the internet the poor little girl is looking pretty sorry for herself she has gone into the right hand corner and hide inside of the plants :( i hope she is ok!

yeah interpet do it so pets at home should do it, its number 10

if youve never used it before, be careful, it stains! and will kill your filte bac so dont put it straight into your tank

yep.. bad times..

ones... my feather fin syno burned him self, half of his one side.. (he was 4 incher @ the time)

and stayed in his cave and refused to come out at any time..

what i did is twise the dose of API slime coat and feed him good protin fod by hand.. he got better day by day.. now i cant even see the scar..

and yes/... lots of water chenges... is a must.

well, so far ive already done a 50% water change, im going to do one before i go work tomoz at 7, i wont be able to do anouther untill about 6 though, this should be ok right? will be getting the med int he afternoon, im abit unkeen on useing the stuff straight onto her, i will move her with the molly as the molly is due some more treatment for some cotton stuff (not sure but think its called cotton disease or something? thanks for the help so far guys! :good:

Hows the fish doing?

yes, she seems ok, on further inspection it does not look half as bad as the day she did it, im pretty confident the water changes and treatment has helped shed loads. Im awaiting my new heater and heater guard which i had hoped would get here today but i guess ive got to wait a little while longer, is there any way i can move the filter/heater about? ive got every reason to belive that the filter flow blew the cory into the heater and the cory got stuck between the heater and glass, well thats my theory

you could always take the heater from the clip and rest is against the glass away from the flow
