Do you have a hospital tank? Or can you buy a cheap smaller tank with no filter that you can use as a hospital tank so you don't have to turn off your filter? Maybe get a 5 gallon with just some gravel in the bottom so you can observe him without any water current. You will be able to conserve your medications that way; smaller tank=less medicine.
