Well, just after I put the divider in (about an hour later) my female Angel is laying her eggs as we speak, got some photos but Lord only knows how they'll turn out!!! The male (what I hope to be a male  ) is going behind her and fertilizing them. She seems to knock a few eggs off with each pass and the ones that do fall......well......they eat'em!!!!!

Happy Thoughts Everyone.........

Wish me LUCK!!!!!!!

OMG, gotta go look again :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

:kana:

:flex:

:look:

:hyper:

It's been about 5 hours now and the mother seems to be doing a good job of fanning the eggs........it kind of looks as though she is trying to lay more  But I think she is fanning them..............that's a good sign RIGHT!??? :S :hyper:

I hope they don't eat them........
I mean, I didn't want them to breed, wasn't looking for it to happen, but now I'm all excited.........D@MN those fish all to H - E - Double Hockey Sticks!!! -_-

Sorry, still a little giddy!!!

Hey Mesome, I just realized we are both in WA.!! Where abouts are you??

Ya, they had them on the glass kind of in the crack where the front slab of glass meets the side ??...get it???

They are still fanning them, well she is....

I have a question for anyone who may know....

If my "male" was actually a female, would she have tried fertilizing them like a male does. What I mean is, I've heard of females pairing up, but I wonder if the one that doens't lay the eggs actually goes across them pretending to fertilize, if not then it's safe to say that mine was a male and did in fact fertilize, hmm??

Ive never heard of a female trying to fertilize the eggs. I'd bet youll be a grandma soon. :)

I sure do hope so............<did I just SAY THAT!! ??

Ya, I guess females do try and fertilize them.........says a few people anyhow..... :dunno: I personally won't believe it until I see it ;)

Been almost 12 hours now and she's still fanning away and he is still trying to protect the eggs even though I have a pexy-glass divider in  He'll run up to the glass and try and peck the curious audience......

I went ahead and did a quick vaccuum job........my tank REALLY needed it bad....ever since I got that pleco there has been poop EVERYWHERE and that is absolutley NO exaggeration!!! :grr: Just in case I couldn't do one for a while because of fear of sucking up the wee-ones........if I'll get any :X

By the way, does anyone know when they will turn white if they weren't fertilized??

Also, will the pleco eat them off of the glass??

Dont know about turning white. If given the chance, the plec would probably eat them, but I doubt the angels would let him. Cant wait to see pics. :D

I would remove the male, plec and the devider.

The eggs might go white, but mostly they are see through and you should notice a black spot in the egg if you look very closely, its the eye, and eggs sack.

Congratulations! :D

I'm learning a lot from your experience because we'll be going through it in the near future too. Our two blushing angels (the two biggest in the tank, about half-dollar size) have been doing some strange things. I think they're pairing up. How big are yours?

Good luck!! Hope to see pics soon

I will definitley keep you posted CMC!!

My males body, I believe, is a little bigger than a Silver Dollar + fins, but he isn't the kind of Angel that has the LONG fins, neither is the female which is smaller than him. Her body is a little smaller than a Silver Dollar, bigger than a quarter though and then + her fins which aren't the long variety.

They were acting pretty strange too for about 2 - 4 weeks. This is their first spawn. I have to run to the store now but I will write about it when I get back and an update on my eggs!!!

:hyper:

IME its best to try and resist takin ohotographs of the parents while at the spawning site.. it often stresses fish and they feel threatened. I'm not sure if this is the case for angels (i suspect it is) but its certainly the case with lots of other fish.
