These first round pictures are mainly of the Opaline Gourami. I'm trying to sex it, so I can buy two more (Another Opaline and a Gold, sexed so that there are 2 females and one male). I'm fairly certain that it's a male. Maybe someone can certify that for me with these pics. The dorsal fin seems long and pointy, and from what I understand that means he's a male. Sorry that they aren't better quality. I'm using my camera phone and right now he's a very shy little guy. Any sudden movements and he darts for the closest cover...lol. I think he's a gorgeous fish, and I can't wait to see him grow.

He's just a little faster than my camera here.

My full tank, figured I should give you at least one this round.

This is probably the best/clearest picture of the Opaline.

Shadowy side view.

I'll try to get some pictures of the Barbs tomorrow, but they're even faster than the Gourami...lol. Luckily for me, they like to stick together so I should be able to get some pretty good shots of them if they think I'm about to feed them. Any comments are welcome, especially if you can help me sex my Opaline Gourami "Jimmie" (God I hope it's a male...lol).

Cool looking tank :good:

You should be able to sex that gourami fairly easily by looking at it's dorsal fin. The males will be 'pointy' while the female's is more rounded at the end of it, if that makes sense.

I'm not trying to diss the picture quality, since my pics are worse than yours, but to me, that looks like a male. A quick google search will help ya but there's loads of information on here, too.

Thanks everyone! I'm 99% sure that my Opaline Gourami is a male. He has a long and pointy dorsal fin, so I am almost certain. Here's some more pics that I've taken today. Still a little fuzzy, hopefully I can get a better camera soon.

My 2 male platys were not getting along well at all. I knew that one would become the boss of the two, but he was really picking on the subordinate quite hard, so I decided to get the two males three female platys today. We got a Hi Fin Sunset Platy, a Mickey Mouse Platy, and a Sunset Fire Platy all females. The Red and White platy has already paired off with the Mickey Mouse platy, which we're super happy about. My Barbs gave one of the three females a good nip when we first netted her out of the bag, and she's acted a bit iffy for the rest of the night. She didn't eat when I offered bloodworms and flake food tonight. I think she'll be ok, the Tigers have since come around and haven't been nipping at anyone except each other. I think they just wanted to see what the new fish were all about at first. I wanted to get some pics of them up tonight, but they were camera shy and wouldn't stay still long enough for me to get a good picture with my crappy camera phone.

However, I also got 2 female Gold Gouramis to give my male Opaline some company. They were not the least bit camera shy. They didn't come straight up to the camera just yet, but they didn't swim away either. So I present you now with a few pics of my new family members. Goldie and Channy, the female Gold Gouramis.
