I was in my LFS last week and they had just recieved a new shipment of fish...I've been looking for a different colored guy (all blue and reds around here) and there were two boys that I fell in love with so I dug up another tank and got both  I'm picking up a 10 gal Tuesday for Murphy so he can have more room so don't worry...he's not staying in that small container :good:

Both of them were VERY dull looking in the store...almost white. Murphy was a pale cream color. But they've colored up so incredibly nice it's amazing! I'm feeding them Hikari Betta bio-gold and even from when these pics were taken a few days ago, their colors have improved dramatically!

This is Murphy. He's hard to take a picture of...but he's orange with a bit of blue and black on the tips of his fins. I'll try to get a better pic tonight...

And this is Bruce Lee (because he's always flared up and looks like he's fighting something) His body is now a shimmery pale blue instead of dull white  Quite the character, this one lol

They are gorgeous boy!! I espeically love bruce lee, his coloring is just awsome. Great finds! Congrats

Oh they both look great!
Your Bruce Lee looks just like my Rex :D
Same fins and all, but sounds like your guy has more blue in his body now?

Thanks guys

Yeah, Rex and Brucie almost look identicle! I think yours is a bit bigger, though...Bruce Lee is pretty small. And his body is basically white and shimmers blue in the light. His gill/cheek (?) area is black, too.

Hopefully, their colors continue to come out stronger! It's only been a few days and there's been such a HUGE improvement!

Lovely boys especially Bruce Lee, he looks stunning :good:

I apologise because I really suck at taking pictures of fish  But these were taken this morning and are not the best, but it kinda shows the bluish body on Bruce Lee and it shows Murphy a little bit better...I can't get Murphy to flair up, is that normal? I've even tried multiple times with a mirror just to try to get a nice pic of him (and because I don't know what that tail is hiding in there) and I just can't get him to do it...he swims away

Yeah I assumed a veil tail...but there are some colors in it (black, blue, purple and what could be red/dark orange) but it's always flat and kinda stuck together  I'm anxiously waiting for that tail to open up so I can see what's there lol

Murphy finally decided to show off today lol He's got a little bit of yellow/green near the ends of his fins.

Don't tell Brucie, but I think Murphy is my favorite

Murphy was getting depressed looking in his little container :( I ended up not getting another 10 gal so I picked up a 5 gal last night, set it up today and added some water from my other established tank (hopefully that was enough)

But Murphy is now in the 5 gal with a little heater and I'm going to pick up a little filter right now...hood is being ordered...

And I'm going to see what I can rig up for a divider so I can stick my new Plakat, Sully, in there with him!

Just thought I'd post some updated pics of my boys  As you can tell from my original post, I haven't had them very long but boy have they ever changed!!

Here's Brucie...he looks photoshopped but I swear it's 100% all him!

And Murphy...keep in mind he was a pale creamy color when I got him. Look at the blues in his fins  (still can't get a decent pic of the bugger, though lol)

And Murphy's new 5 gal :hey: Still waiting for the hood and I've got some more decorating to do but is he ever a happy little fishie!! He's up there by the heater lol

Adding water from a mature tank isn't going to be enough. Best thing to do is cut off a little bit of the filter media from the mature tank and pop that into the 5gals filter along with it's own media. That way it helps seed the new stuff with the good bacteria and you basically have an instacycle. *nodnod*

Both of them look great! Bruce's colors are SO pretty. Murphy's colors are also beautiful.

They are beautiful. Murphy appears to have fin rot. What do you other more experienced people think?
