Wow, looks good. Much better than mine. ;)

The pots to make it easier to keep them?

Some guesses:
The red plant is plastic
You got or get most, many, or a few planst and fish from petsmart

Am I right in either case?

Looking at your specs, it doesn't look too good, IMO. The catfish prolly won't enjoy it in there, and you have a great deal of fish as it is. :/

Is the current ok for your fist?

Thanks!!

That filter pad is there to collect bacteria. I was told if I put it in there and let it sit fora while, then put it in my new tank I am building, that it would help my new tank cycle faster. We'll see if it works lol, I'm doing a fishless cycle anyways, so who knows..can't hurt. :shifty:

The pots were actually my son's (8yr old) idea, he wanted the tank to look like it had potted plants in it (like his grannie's sunroom lol). Since it is "his" tank and in his room..I said fine.

After agreeing to it, I got to thinking...I haven't ever had live plants before so maybe putting them in the little pots would made it easier to care for them ..I had 9 sagittaria to begin with..2 have died but I think they got too cold during shipping honestly) lol, and another plant..I forget the name right now (I'd have to go look at my sales receipt lol). Plus I bet I'd tear them to pieces when I vaccumed the gravel..they were so little (the Sagittaria) when they came in..all were under a 1" tall. The grass is secured to the cave and shrimp "house" (that tiny pot with the hole in the front is a shrimp house btw..if you couldn't tell  lol...Drake made that) with fishing line. I have yet to see the shrimp in the house. Oh well..it's the though that counts..right?

The red plant is plastic, as well as the bushy green one in the left rear corner..they both came from Pet Supplies Plus.

The live plants came from Aquatic-Store.com, I haven't ever seen a PetSmart around here..I don't even know if they have them in AL yet lol.

The Neon's also came from Pet Supplies Plus, I traded a Bala Shark, Drake's Nana so lovingly purchased without asking me first, for them . The Rasbora's, Otto Cat, and the Ornate Cory came from a friend who's tank had a large crack and was leaking water. The Upside Down Catfish and the Gold Cory came from Wal-mart. And the Snails hitched a ride in on the live plants lol.

:D Whew! lol

I have struggled with the tank endlessly. Trying to keep the Algea down, the plants alive, the plastic plants secured to the floor, the fish in the tank, and teh water parameter's at a stable level. After 3 months all seems to be going good now. Great, tommorrow all the fish will be dead...I prolly just jinxed myself good  lol. :fun:

Well the UPC seems happy enough...he usually stays in the cave until I turn off the light and go away. If I come near the tank he goes back to the cave..I guess he can feel me coming lol. The filter has a knob where you can turn teh flow down..it's about halfways and no one has any problems with it..except the shrimp..if he's up top and gets too close it'll blow him for a loop sometimes, bu the Java fern and Creeping Jenny help him out..he's grab on to one of them if he can lol.

The Otto cat munches happily away on the algea on the back of the tank and the wafers.

And the cory's..well they each have a pot they liek to chill in..so they generally stay there or behind the glass pots unless I drop a wafer in...then they're all over it lol.

My amonia level is 0ppm, my Nitrite is 0ppm, and my Nitrate level is between 15 and 20ppm.

I hadn't planned on the Rasboras, Otto cat, or Ornate cory..but they needed somewhere to go quick..so I said yes.

that pic with all your neons together there is awesome....(looks at empty 10 gallon in the corner) hmmm

thanks :)

Yeah when they shoal they do look pretty neat-o. My son likes them because they are red, white, and blue...she says they are his patriotic fishes lol.

I guess they feel comfy most of the time..becasue generally they break off into 2's and swim around, then meet back up, then break off again. It's quite entertaining to watch them I think, especailly when you turn off all the room lights, and it's dark outside and only the tanklight is on...makes their colors POP. B)

Persoanlly I like the Rasbora's best. That's what I wanted but I couldn't find any to begin with...I wanted a tank of nothing but those. I may buy another tank and put in my room and do that..but I duno if I am ready to take on another tank just yet lol.

there are actually 3 petsmarts near you. one by the galleria, one on 280 by home depot and one in trussville. i work at the one on 280 ;)

i dont htink you should add any more fish but i wanted to let you know that your upside down cat is a shoaling fish, your cories are schooling and your otto might like a friend or two as well.

interesting thing you have done with the pots.. :)

Well I don't think I can get anymore fish in there. So they'll have to make do like they are for now (which they really don't seem to unhappy to be honest)...unless I can find a larger tank for a good price (which I am looking for just haven't found, I may build one after I finish my Betta Tank though).

Yeah, the pots..I din't think were gonan look so good..but they look ok I guess lol...different to say the least.

See I'm a good hour away from all those places...I live in Warrior (close to Cullman). :fun: So I don't get out those ways very often. They need to open a pet store in Gardendale or Fultondale...so I don't have to drive all the way to Centerpoint anytime I need something. because the only petstore in Cullman (Pet depot) really sucks.

yes-you are pretty far away. is there even a walmart in warrior? -_-

lol nope. I have to drive to Gardendale or Cullman to get to Wal-mart...about 20 minutes either way I go.

What you pay to get away from all that concrete though lol. I don't mind too much.

Just an update with some newer pics. I've changed the tank around somewhat and took some things out as well.

I took out all the glass pots....I just got tired of seeing them in there, not to mention 90% of the saggittaria died off too lol. I also got some new gravel as well.

I'll probably have some new pictures sometimes next week. I ordered some nice silk plants for the tank...so when they come in I'll take some more. :D

The Pristella's (ther are 4 of them in all)

This one really digs the Neon for some reason, they hang out together alot...the other 3 hang out with the Rasbora mainly (2 of them..I swear you'd think they adopted them..they never leave lol). One is sick though..it's got a tumor or something on it's tummy :(.

Pristella003.jpg

The Rasboras (there are 4 of them also..although if you count the 2 pristella's that hang out..there's 6 lol).

The Neon..yes there is just the one...the rest died after a bad water change experience :(. It seems to be just dandy though..it has it's pristella buddy to keep it company.

hey nice community u have there

just one question though, are you over feeding those harlequin rasboras? because from the way i see them, they absolutely have massive bellies. just curious :dunno:

Thanks :)

You know...They don't eat any more then the Pristella's or Neon (everone gets their fair share..I stand there and watch usually)...as I only feed them a, small to medium size, pinch of flakes a day....I dunno what's up with them...3 of them are like that, the other is flat...I have always wondered if they are just full of eggs or something. :dunno:

They aren't sick or anything..as they are probably the happiest/liviest bunch in the tank lol, always have been.

And none of the middle dwellers go to the bottom and even look at the algea wafers I drop in for the UDC/Cories...They don't even glance at them as the fizz by their heads on teh way to the bototm .

Heck, I have a hard enough time getting them to eat period..I got a sample of flake food with some daphnia I ordered for them...holy cow did they ever dig that daphnia... and since I was about out of the other I figured I'd just use that. pfft..they'd eat it and spit it right back out, then they got to where they wouldn't even try it lol. Then I had thrown the bottle away and coudln't remember what brand it was....I went through 4 types before I found the right one again...no sooner then it hit the water they were all over it :X ...picky little flippers :p lol.
