My 10 gal

Keep an eye on that Upside Down Catfish. They get at least 4" and probably bigger. I had one that got up to 5" in a 20 gallon in a tank my mom had in her class room at school and I had to go trade him for some more fish. They need lots of hiding places. Nice looking fish. :kewlpics:

Thanks :)

Yeah, she's every bit of 4" right now. I wasn't aware they got so big (was a purchase I made upon the information on teh cards at the store).

I've got her several places to hide in...just can't really see them well in pics. Her fav place is to get behind the tall plant and up beside the heater (which is why I replaced the plastic ones in the first place..I was afraid she was gonna get hung back there).
The other spot she really likes is behind the little cave type thing (which is plugged with java fern so no one gets stuck in there though lol), and you'll find her hangin out in that big pot as well...that's usually where she is when I come home...once she figures out "the humans" are back..she retreats back behind the big plant .

I'm looking for a 20 gallon right now..just haven't found one yet for a decent price. I'd like to get one so she will have more room, and so I can get a few more rasboras or pristellas, and probably a few more cories.

She really needs a 30 gallon tank and at least 2 more friends. She would come out more with other Synodontis catfish in the tank with her. Although, she has gotten this far with no other friends. She is a nice fish.

Cories are great and probably my favorite fish. There is a pet store in Trussville called Pet Supermarket that has great prices on cories and they are healthy. Ive gotten all my fish from there.

Oh cool..I didn't even notice you were from AL...hi *waves* lol.

I don't know where that is...only shops I know of in Trussville are Petsmart (or is it Petco..I can't remember) and the Fish Peddler. I got my 2 cories from the fish peddler, along with my rasboras.

I heard they opened up a brand new fish store in Hoover though..still trying to track down that ones name...I'll definately look that new one in Trussville up though.

***************
You know I read they like company. I even bought another UDC for her (before I got the Pristellas) just because of what I read, and she killed it. It wasn't in that tank for 15 min and she beat it to death up against the side of the tank. I think it got back there where she likes to reside and she didn't like it :/ .

Oh but, she comes out, just not if she can tell any of us are around. She hates people lol, or maybe she hates our noise -_- . I thought I had made peace with her the other day, but I was wrong (she used me for food lol), I was retrieving a algea wafer that had gotten wedged in between some fronds..and I offered it to her and she took it from me, but she still hides when I come in the room. If I walk very softly and leave the room light off though...she will tolerate me lol.

That schwarzi cory and her are big buddies though...they hang out alot. He (I assume it's a he anyways) will toddle off looking for food and a few minutes later zoom back to her and hang around for a few minutes, then toddle off again...he does that constantly lol.

That store thats in Trussville its on Highway 11 across from that Big shopping center with the Home Depot. Its right there by they chevron right after you get off the highway. Its in a shopping center in the corner.

Where is the Fish Peddler? I havent seen that one.

Also, there used to be a pet store in the Galleria called "Docters Pets" I think that moved some where in Hoover and changed the name, but I couldnt find it.

There is a pet store in Wildwood off Lakeshore Parkway that has a lot of fish and they seem good to...

Cool..I will definately check them out the next time I buy some fish...which probably won't be too long from now since I acquired an empty 10 gallon and I think I'm gonna put some glow-lite tetras in there. Just gotta get another filter, heater, gravel, and some new plants for it. I swear thatpetplace has made a fortune off me lol.

Btw, if you need silk plants and ever want a really good selection at unbelievable prices go to www.thatpetplace.com holy cow they have great prices! And the shipping is quick and reasonable...I tell as many people as I can about them lol.

The Fish Peddler is down close to that new Publix. If you go down to the bottom of the hill, and instead of going straight (to go to Publix) at the light..turn right and it's in a brick building off on the same side of the road as Publix. It has a sign on teh side of the building that says Fish Peddler.

They are kinda bossy in there though, so you'll have to over look that lol, of course...they take excellent care of their fish (everytime I go in there they are cleaning tanks)...so I guess the "bossiness" factor plays into them trying to help the fish after they go home.

the fish peddler is an awesome store.
they always have great prices. if i didnt live so far away, id be in there all of the time :)

another cool one in trussville is God's fishnet. the guy that owns it used to own the fish peddler. it's in the back of some garden center.
it's a petsmart not petco in trussville.

if you are going to get glolites, pet supermarket has the best prices on those-99 cents each :)

the pet store that was in the galleria was an awful one and if they have moved (and not closed down) dont ever go there!!
they sold dogs (which no good pet store should do,) they didnt take care of their animals, the employees were useless, they always had dyed fish, and most of the fish were always sick.
when i was younger my dad and i would always go in there and buy goldfish. he would get them for the pond and i would get them for bowls (and of course they would always assure us that goldfish were happy in bowls)
most of the fish never even lasted a week. im not sure why we kept going back...return policy maybe?

and i agree with barracuda-your syno needs some friends and a little more space.
i have a 20 high i will sell you for $15 if you want. just the tank though, no hood.

Wow....99 cents..each. That is awesome, they are like $1.99 each at the place I saw them. Woohooo for bargains!!

oooo $15 huh...hmmmmmmmm Think the UDC would like that one? Where do you live though? lol not too far from me, right? lmao (gas prices n all you know) I'd be willing to do a little driving though...I drove to Montevallo for the 10 gallon . And I can make a plexigalss hood myself, or go to Ebay I reckon.

Yes I really like the Fish Peddler, I have gone there several times..they have a really good medicine selection and better prices then a LPS.

I hate that Petsmart..it's more like PetDUMB :grr: .

And I hated that shop at the Galleria, they kept their bettas in those bubble sized glass jars. *eeek*  I went in once and never went back..I don't even wanna know what the rest of the fish looked like. I'm not sure it's the same place..this place, from what I was told, is primarily fish oriented. That's why I really wanted to find out where and what is was all about. If it's the Dr Pet store from the Galleria...I won't be going. :X

**Writes down** all these cool fish places she never knew existed lol. (whispers..what garden center thoughhhh)

Yeah, I never bought fish from that place, never really went to it, I just knew it was there and saw a flyer that it had moved.

Im going to check out that Fish Peddler place. And that other too, if I can find out where it is...

EDIT: If SRC doesnt want that 20 gallon, then Ill take it. Im looking for a tank to have nothing but cories in.

Thanks B)

Frolicks around $52 lighter in the pckets..I knew something was weighing me down lol.

I just spent $52 on a fitler, heater, gravel, and plants for whichever tank I set up. If I get this 20 from Jac I'll put the stuff in there, otherwise I'll throw it in the 10 gallon lol.

I love the plants they have on that site, I think I like the prices more though . If I had tried to buy these plants at my LPS or LFS they'd prolly have cost me upwards of $100.

:hyper: @ bargains!

i live out on 280 near the petdumb there (where i work  )
if you could get out that way sometime, that would be great but i might be able to meet you somewhere.
i know i will probably be going to pet supermarket in trussville next tuesday to get some panda orandas (they were supposed to be there today but didnt come in)

yeah-gas prices kill me- i drive a station wagon that takes premium...

edit: or i have a 20 long that i can sell for $20.
need any more 10s? ive got plenty of those too. $5 each. (i had to do major downsizing when i moved :( )

What exactly is the difference in a 20 long and a 20 tall?

lol I dunno about that Pet"dumb" but the one in Trussville sucks. It sucks so bad I put my stuff down and walked out the last time I was in there . That's when I found Fish Peddler :D.

Yeah, I can meet you either place..that's not nearly as far as Montevallo..since I work here in Tarrant lmao. Just let me know.

I wish I had room for another 10 gallon...but I'm pushing space capacity myself until I get my barn finished..I plan to move my fish out there eventually...when I get it all walled up. That's some great deals on those tanks though. Do the 10 gals come with the lids, or is it just the tanks?

20 long has more space for swimming. its 30 inches long and about as tall as a 10gal where as a 20 high is 24 inches long. a 20 long is the same length as a 29 and i think a 20 high is the same height as a 29.
20 long is my favorite small tank size. i have lots of them (just waiting to be filled up) :D

heres a 20 long

turtletank.jpg

just the tanks. no hoods.

Ok then..then I think I will take a long over the tall then...since my UDC needs swimming area..plus I'm sure the zippy little tetras would dig it also.

Just let me know when. I will be in Leeds Sunday until 5..after that (until next weeken..I'll be in Leeds again) I'd free anytime (after 2pm..work and all lol) to come after it.
