Mucus From Dead Oscar

hey peeps

does anyone know why my oscar, which died only today, had loads of mucus coming from it's mouth, the poor fella was gasping for breath for a few days before his death, when i removed him crystal clear mucus drained from his mouth, is their a cause for this? The tank is in excellent condition with very healthy fish. Water is also in great condition.

What are your water parameter's? Was the mucus water like? Or was it thick-ish? It could have been water draining from inside him.

first the oscar and the channa with eye problem, might be related

The mucus was crystal clear and quite thick like chesty snot.


H2O parameters are

nitrite.....0
nitrate ...less than 5
ammonia..0
PH.......7.6--7.9

hmm maybe i would go with what daveo 86 said in other thread as to channa eye,

my channa pleuro now has channa black eye, i moved him in net, he jumped into poly box wacking his face on corner, now he is back in tank with cloudy eyes, hopefully a few shall pass and all shall be ok...

good luck mate, regards to oscar when my oscar died it was in tank for a long time before i came home, she also was very mucasy

Thanks fo the kind words Nelly, i'm gonna give that protozin a try and see what happens. The Channa i have move very quickly sometimes, i wonder if they clobber themselves on bogwood.

Only one way to find out, cheers for the advice.
