Hi Forum

Hopefully I am moving house in 2 months. What is the best way to transport my two tanks, they are small 8 gallon ones. The new house is a 5-minute drive away.

I propose to do a 50% water change. And then transport the fish in the tanks with 50% water in. Then when I get them in my new house finish off the water change by adding 50% treated tap water.

Any comments on this method. I want the fish to have as little stress as possible

Cheers

Since the house is so close, I'd drain the water down to about 50% so it won't splash all over the place. Get a car adapter so you can just plug in your tanks and keep things going. I've used a similar process and I moved 3050 miles across the country without any deaths.

well, since moving a larger tank even with 50% of its water is a very heavy job, what i did was take tank water and put it in containers that i covered, leaving air holes. then i added an air stone to keep it circulating. then i put the filters media into a container of water to keep it wet. then i removed as much water as i could still keep in the gravel under water. i also idd that with my smaller 10 gal tanks. just made it easier. they were moved in one separate trip, and set back up immediately. this worked for me.
