right 1stly appologies for the pic but its only 1 ive got and they dont sit still long enough at 1st i thought deffinately spirulus then maybe sajica then was certain they were spirulus but now the colours are changing im not so sure.
jade2.gif

the verticle stripes seem to be slowly starting to fade 1 has a black spot at base of caudal fin 1 hasnt . the anal dorsal and pectoral fins are developing stunning red/blue colouration . on the caudal fin this colouration is kind of like horizontal stripes of alternating blue/red "spots" the dorsal and pectoral fin patterning is the same kind of alternating red/blue striping. base colour of the fish is still light pretty much as in the photo.

Here are some pics that i have just took of my sajica

the pic in the link was from a google search of sajica so its deffo sajica my 2 jade eyeds looked like spirulus to start with but are now developing the exact same red/blue fin patterning

hard to tell davo. put the fin colouration from the linked pic onto the fish in my pic and thats exactly what mine look like if that makes sense when i googled images of spirulus the red/blue isnt present

does the horizontal stripe develop over time or is it present from very young? depending how the light hits them there could/couldnt be 1 developing.

grrrr wish i had a better camera

hmmm strange 1 this they have the body colouration of spirulus but the exact same fin colouration as the sajica . errrrm im stumped!

It is a tough one to ID and I've had the same problem myself.
Sajica are also known as T-Bar Cichlid and you can almost make out a horizontal "T" on the side. Spilurus tend to have bands but no defining marks.
This is only my experience so don't take my word for it!

Have a look at this site and also fishbase.org, it'll give you a better idea.
