My most active fish is a pictus catfish, running a close second is gold danios. If you are asking about intelligence and interactivity I would say parrot fish are pretty smart and when they breed they are very interesting.

Edit: My sister owns several parrot fish (I think that's there name) and she talks about there breeding habits. I've watched them from time to time too and they are very intelligent/active

Most active fish ive seen are Exodons, these guys never seem to stop whizzing about and fighting with each other and everything, like bad tempered tigerbarbs on speed.

I thought my post would get atleast some reaction. My sister told me that parrot fish are hybrids and usually can't mate. I expected someone to comment on that. Is it true that her fish are freaks?

Edit: Your probably right ninja, she just makes a really big deal out of it so I thought you guys would be interested

The most active fish I ever saw was a tank full (and I mean FULL) of guppies at the lfs. They had probably 60 of them in a ten gallon (they sell well and they keep good care of the tanks too) full grown and horny as hell  I saw males that didn't even know what to do, they just swam in circles... it was soooo funny!!

I imagine parrots can breed, a lot of different hybreds can breed succesfully, I don't see why the are much different (course, I could be highly wrong and deserve a sound bashing... be nice  )

60 guppys in a ten gallon? Bloody hell how did they manage to fit them all in there??
Anyways, i had 2 pearl danios not long ago which i rehomed recently cos they were picking on my guppys non-stop and i would say they were pretty active fish; at the moment though i would say my black khuli loaches are probably my most active fish, they never seem to get bored of swimming around in circles on their on or around each other.

i thought my leopard danios and tiger barbs were the most active til 3 days ago...when i bought 3 pearl danios - they haven't stopped chasing eachother or the leopards YET

well id say my danios and kulis were the most active and they say kulis are more active at night well mine certainly r not.and well for the zebera danios all they do all day is chace each other and my cardinals none stop.

I had a pictus catfish at one time in my life - that sucker was a FREAK. When the lights came on in the room he went ballistic. I can't imagine that by the time he died he didn't have some major brain damage from all the times he went flying out of the water and into the tank hood.

in my tank.. its a toss up between my clowns, kulis and hopolos

clowns are always active at the back of the tank... kulis can be seen zipping here an there, and my hoplos are always movin around at the front of the tank..

in my bfs tank its a toss up between the zebra danios and the flame tetras
