Mosquito Fish.

My first thought was a species of bass - maybe large mouth or small mouth./ But after looking up pictures of bass fry, he looks nothing like them.

okay so that was an older photo.

Tbh looks a bit like a minnow species. Perhaps creek chub, type of shiner, etc...

Still no sign of it. Where could it have gone? There is no filter in the tank, just an air stone.

He’s gone back to the river.
Mrs Mystery Fish will be wanting to know where he’s been. It’s gonna sound like an alien abduction story sounds to us. He’s gonna be shunned, mocked, pointed at for the rest of his days. I hope for his sake he just says he got landlocked while exploring a tributary or something.

I really have no clue where he went. Is it possible for some species of fish to jump 2-3 inches out of the water? I’m asking because my 10g betta tank is right next to the one he was in, and the rum is 2-3 inches higher.
