well my furnace broke and the intire basement reaked of fuil oil and the furnace was belching black smoke out the chimney. the co2 moniters didnt go off thank god, but it was enough to hurt my only batch of fry because yup, all the betta tanks are in the basement. all the adults, and the fry still clinging to life are upstairs in cups till my husband gets off work and helps me carry the stuff upstairs.

the adult bettas all look ok, but the few fry left are not swiming or breathing right, the furnace has been fixed already. and the basement windows have had the screens put in and windows left open.

what can I do to help the remaining fry...other then no more fish tanks in the basement, and clean fresh water?

fresh clean water is probably about all you can do, and make sure they are warm enough.... i hope everything works out keep us updated

Good luck with them Newfishy.......what a nightmare especially after all your hard working getting to this point

well after the move up stairs the fry seem to be doing better, they are swimming around normal for the most part and eating well. so we shall see how they turn out. they are 5 weeks now but are fairly big, probebly because they are so few of them.

good luck with them :good: i did a spawn with a first timer last week, hatched 2/07/08 and he ate all but 1 so i removed him, this one fry is in the tank swimming very happily around and is the size of my 1.5 month old fry, couldnt believe it when i saw him  or her.

thanks, makes me wonder how fast we could get fry to grow if we would seperate each one into its own tank or jar much sooner then the norm.
