Mom red rili baby yellow rili

I had 3 red rilis one was already pregnant when I got her
Now her babies are getting their colors
I saw that there was 2 yellow ones
But yesterday I tried to take some photos with my macro lens and that's when I saw that the yellow ones are rilis too
She also gave birth to some sapphire blues and some colorless ones like the other one on the video
Not sure their colors aren't showing up yet but they are even bigger than yellow rilis

Any ideas why ??

Their colour will be colourless “natural”. To create a colony of shrimp with all the same colour you have to selectively breed them. For example, a very red female mixed with a colourless male shrimp will turn out more non red & colourless shrimplets since only one shrimp is red.

There is a high chance that pregnant red Rili you got mated with a non red rili shrimp. Which produced those different coloured shrimp. My shrimp tank consists of about a 75% majority of colourless shrimp even though the first generation included coloured shrimp.

I agree. That's why when I bought my yellow shrimps a few days ago I got them from a shop while keeps the different colours separate. We had visited a garden centre which houses a branch of Maidenhead Aquatics a few days before, and of course I had to go and look at the fish to see what they had. There was a tank with mixed colour shrimps and although they had orange neos (my second choice) I didn't buy them because of the risk one could have been a female carrying eggs fertilised by a male shrimp of any of the colours in the tank.

In the middle of November last year I bought some mixed colour cherry shrimps on eBay. Since fish are the main focus of my main tank I am not worried about them all being brown eventually and the mixed colours were cheaper than the same number of a single colour. I paid for 10 and there were 11...

They can also appear spontaneously anytime, it's not rare to have Deep Red Bloody Mary popping deep Black and Blue babies.

When Rili are involved it can turn to anything even Inverted Rili's, they are the ones that produced the most interesting wild type I have seen.
