hi all, i bought 5 mollies for £10.00 from p@h yesturday! 3 white, 1 dalmation and 1 black! just got home and the black 1 was floating (dead)! so ive put him in a carton! i want to take him bak tomoz and have a refund! the only thing us, i think i might be a little ashmed! haha!

who has done this before?! i really want to do it as i have the reciept and they do promise a full refund if the water sats oki so i think im gonna do it lol!

Most places do replace if they die within 24 or 48hrs

take him in and ask to see the manager staright away, be firm dont let him brush you off, they will also ask for a sample of your water so take one instead of having to go back i wouldnt get another but wait till youve had the others a few weeks first,maybe get some food or something or a store credit, i bought mollies not long ago and killed about 8 of my fish with columaris, not from pets at home tho and i did get £80 compensation, but i had to be firm 9 not rude) as the manager would have let me think it was my fault it had become ill and the other fish had died ( i actually wrote down everything i did when i brought them home and gave it to him, that way i wasnt tongue tied when i got there

If the cost of transportation is more than the cost of the fish it negates the benefit of their return policy. If it is a species you have been after for a while, especially if breeding is a concern the cost of the fish vs transportation usually doesn't matter.

Unless there is ammonia or nitrite in the water they should have no problem with a replacement or refund. Don't let them try to wiggle out by saying the pH isn't 7.0, this does not matter in the least.

Refunds/replacements are normal everyday business, don't be ashamed or any of that, it's totally normal, and in some ways to be expected in a percentage of sales. Depending on when, where, and how they got the fish in hopefully this will be a small percentage.

oki thanks shelagh! my local p@h (llanelli) usually have bad press 4 live stock (fish) but my tank have been good bar this fish lol!

i would also recommend that in future you quaranteen fish that you buy from them ( if you must buy from them) they sell small clearseal tanks,filter kits etc so maybe thats something you could put the few £ towards, would be horrible if u got a bad fish from them and wiped your tank out, that said from.. any fish store

Deffinately go back, you have every right to and there is no need to be ashamed.

Sorry for the loss of your fish by the way, i hate losing any fish even if they are brand new.

Are you adding salt to the water? Mollies benefit from a little aquarium salt.

yes i am forest ... in a big blue carton thingy ... ivecalculated up and im adding tht correct amount of table spoons in!

i used to go to pets at home but the fish are bad quality and often die, so i go to maidenhead aquatics instead and the fish are always healthy. i would take the fish back and change fish shop.

Ive a similar story - I bought 2 clarias cat fish from a LFS, its not somewhere ive bought from before.

I had noticed that some of the tanks in the shop had a few "ill" looking fish, and some were floating - even 2 (previously) beautiful specimins that were scorpion fish.

Under normal circumstances, I would have complained and got the hell out of there. Sadly on this occasion, rationale flew out the window, as they were the only shop I had been in that stocked this particular type of catfish and was one of the many tanks where the fish were displaying normal behaviour (ie, actually swimming the right way up).

So I purchased my fish, had a quick complaint to the person responsible for the fish section about the dead tanks, and took them home to aclimatise.

Less than 24 hrs later One had died. I called the LFS and explained the situation, and they said it must be my water, bring in a sample and they would test it - if all's well, they would replace or money back. I of course took the hump because I have a smashing community set up and have no problems with my water, or my fish for that matter. I told him this but he insisted they would have to check first....so being annoyed I told him to politely do one, and put the phone down.

I know it was stupid of me, but heart took over the head!

I have just been to my local p@h for some water tests and had a look at the fish. Not very good and there were quite a few dead ones, not getting mine there. (didn't get the test either ,nearly £10 cheaper on auction site)
