Mollies and Platies

Well, I just got 2 black mollies and 2 platies B) each a male and female. I asked the lady if the mollies and platies could breed and she said yes. So that led to another question. Are are mollies the same species?? Ex. Black Mollies and Sailfin Mollies. And can they breed without the babies being hybrid???

Mollies and platys cannot interbreed. However mollies will. Mollies can mix and make all kinds of shapes and colors.
