I've got 2 angels in a 125 litre and they're fine ( people will soon come darting in that it's too small, but they're happy and have a good home, but two would be the maximum for a tank this size). Discus would be 250 litres :good:

125 liters is not bad for Angels thats around 30g which I would call minimum the important thing for Angels is height on a tank as it needs to be about 18 inches or more tall so they do not drag their ventral fins too much and cause cuts and scrapes that can get infected.

For Discus general rule of thumb is to start at around 55g or so as Noah pointed out and then its best to get a group in that size or bigger.

I have a aqua style 620T which is 125l. its 2ft wide and pretty much 2ft tall. I have been told that this tank is perfect size for a pair of angles. Am i right in thinking that angles grow to about 30cm in height? i was also told that with angles you measure them from their height not length. :)

I gave the 620 and I believe that they are a 90 litre tank?! Unless I was Mis-sold mine!!! On that basis, think height maybe ok (I don't keep Angels so don't take this as gospel!!) but the length maybe a tad short.
Am sure some of the great people in here will tell you definitively as some great advice available on here.
Hope it works out for you!! ☺.

55 gallon minimum for discus but the bigger the tank the better.

30cm in a regular angel would be rare IMO but you are looking at at least 15cm tall most of the ones I have had have made 8 inches tall though some a little more.

if the tank is only 2 feet long it may cause some issues, though the height is good. Angelfish are more aggressive than people can give them credit for. they also do get pretty large. I've always considered 30"-36" to be the minimum length for angels.

The 620 is 90 litre, the 620T is 125 litres. :good:

Necro ahoy. ..

Was reading pfk and there's an article in there that says 120 litre is minimum and with prudent husbandry you could have one discus per 20 litres.

The article is apparently supposed to bust some myths about keeping them, not sure how many of you have read it but how accurate is it?

Is that 120 litres for first one then 20 for everyone after that?

That would make more sense, but considering they're more of a social shoaling fish (in general) that do best in groups of 6+ you're still looking at something like a Rio/Roma 240 sized tank as the bare minimum. IMO of course. :good:
