Mini Puffers

After the mini puffers I brought in Velvet and killed my breeding fighters and remaining puffers apart from 3 (thought i had two but found 3) I have no where to really get them, and I dont want to get anymore, after they brought in the disease, i think its the same stock as the ones i brought from and in that case i dont want to risk it again, Im wondering what these little fellows can live with. I have serval betta tanks they can go with, or a community (heavily planted) but dont want to risk them or any others... I wont be added intill they fully recovered.

Are we talking dwarf puffers / pea puffers? If so definately do not put them with any bettas, that is an extremely bad mix. As to the community, it has limited success and is down to you whether you will risk it or not. I managed to keep my dwarves at one point with tetras but I was always realistic that they may take a tetra out, the tank itself was a complete overgrown jungle so there were many escape routes and I had a back up tank if it didnt work. In the end I changed the stocking but the behaviour of the dwarves made me think it was a matter of time. If you can keep them in their own tank filtered and heated that would be best. Mixing these puffs with anything other than their own species is a bad idea.

The best solution is a 15g tank of their own due to the waste they produce.
