Microfish - Safe With Shrimplets?

Howdy,

I have a bunch (7) of phoenix rasbora in my community tank. They are great little chaps and chap-esses, spending most of their time playing around the spray bar and any bits of plants floating at the surface.

I would however like to try breeding them. I know that they are constant breeders - depositing a few eggs on an almost daily basis, and so I want a long term place for them to live in and be able to start laying - so I was thinking of housing them in my shrimp tank. (20 litre filtered jobby)

Questions are: 1) Will their mouths be big enough to eat shrimplets?
2) Will the shrimps eat the fish eggs?

Im hoping that even if their mouths are big enough then the shrimplets would be faster and would get away.

One extra reason why I would like to try putting the fish in with the shrimps is that over the past 4 months or so the shrimp tank has started to take on a little pond life. A few micro animals have strated to live in there and so I would like them to become dinner for the fish.

ideas and opinions please people.

Sounds like a good idea to me I dont think they will be predatory enough to damage a colony of shrimps but you might have one or two tiny ones eaten.

To be fair its a pretty common pairing in small tanks I wouldnt worry at all

i'd say do it, like wills said there is the possibility that they may pick off one or two shrimps, but they'd have to be tiny, but not enough to stop the shrimps re-producing.
its a good idea i say!
