Maybe I'm Too Confident... Will This Work?

This 4ft x 18” x 2ft tank was set up outside, so the rains caused the wood below the base to swell out and the base was cracked… (Multiple times)

I stripped 3 of my 1ft x 18” tanks and used the glass panels of those to cover the whole bottom (4 strips) on the underside with this glass (on the outside)

I did not use the silicon sealer sparingly and made sure that the new glass is well sealed in particular along the edges and over the cracks.

I am ready to refill and give it another try……. Will it work??..... or should I rather remove the base and fit a complete new glass?

Risky business if you ask me Ludwig. Playing around with water pressure in a cracked tank is asking for trouble IMO. Have you siliconed a new pane of glass over the cracked one, or directly siliconed the cracked one. I'd go with the first mentioned if possible, as risking the existing one is playing with fire.

I have to agree with Verminator, looks like a risk that's not worth taking. Imagine those seals failing catastrophically inside your house.

if its outside set it up for abit with no fish in if it cracks/leaks the water the grass

thats what id do anyway

Yea I agree, leave it outside to see how it holds up with the pressure. Possible it will be fine but don't want to chance it IMO!
