Maybe A New Stocking....

Well im thinking about getting rid of my 2 L333s plecos as i hardly see them Thinking about replacing them with something a bit more active during the day. All i can think of is cory's.

Also thinking of getting a centre piece fish.

Want something that i can have a go at breeding and will live happily with the 20 odd rummy nose tetra and cherry shrimp.

The tank is 180l, heavily planted, sand for substrate and wood decor. Got a couple of slate caves aswell for anything that needs hidey holes

Any suggestions?

corys would be good or you could get a BN plec, as mine is out all day it just depends if you think its good enoguh haha. Erm and as for a centre piece:
i could suggest Appistogramma cacatuoides ( cockatoo dwarf cichlid) but i dont know if they get too aggressive
or you could breed other fish like angels? but i dont know if they would be alright with rummy noses :L
or mollies and guppies etc. but i dont really like them

but i would suggest the dwarf cichlid, but i aint too sure if they would be suitable with the smaller fish

Yeah i was thinking of some sort of apisto, but not sure if they'll eat the shrimp and dig up the plants? I've had angels in there before and had no problem with them and the rummy's.... But i suppose every fish is different. I think they'd go for the shrimp aswell.

Do you think clown loach would be ok in this set up or have i not got enough room?

Apistos might eat the baby shrimp, if you have Cherries, but I don't think they'd bother the adults. They do dig a bit but not enough to uproot plants.
Cories would do well in your tank, and both them and apistos would be quite likely to breed for you.

You're first thought is right, you don't have enough room for clown loaches I'm afraid; they can grow to a good 12 or 14" and they need to be kept in a group to be really happy!

As for species, well, it's really down to you and what you like (and what they have in your LFS!) I've got Corydoras adolfoi which are lovely but expensive (I paid £50 for my six ) and C. panda which are lovely; cheaper and just as cute (and smaller)

I don't keep apistos anymore, but Apistogramma cacatuoides is easy to keep and breed and isn't too expensive.

I like the pandas. How many do you think i could have in my tank with a trio of apisto's aswell?

Looking through apistos now and im quite liking the agassizii and borellii!!!! All depends if my LFS stocks them

Most LFS will stock some kind of apisto.

Your tank is pretty well stocked so I'd chose either the panda cories (you'll need six for them to be really happy) or the apistos, not both.

Hmmmm decisions decisions.... I think i'll go for the pandas

How does 20 odd rummynose, 20 odd cherry shrimp and 10 pandas sound for a full stocking?
