I hate to sound really cheeky, but does anyone have some mature filter media that I can pinch. I'm getting too impatient........

I'm just one of them types of women............ I want everything yesterday. :D

I live in Runcorn, Cheshire and if anyone has any I would be most grateful!

I did look there, but there isn't anyone really that near to me.

Have you tried your LFS?

I did, and they rather bluntly said no, so I swiftly exited the shop with my tail between my legs.

Runcorn eh? Do you know Johnny, Janet, Gaz, Donna and Louise?

Although it isn't really called the Archers, in real life if is The Waterloo - theres some useless trivia for you :D

Oh! I didn't know media could be posted, I thought it had to be taken straight out of one tank, and placed in a new tank within a few hours. Thats Great.

Thank you so much.

Find the nearest person and ask them if they are preared to ship media to you. Tolak knows the procedure and has sent and received media many a time.
Is the procedure complicated?

1/3 water, 2/3 air, triple bagged the same as fish, though you really don't need any temperature control unless it's the dead of winter or the middle of a blazing summer. I add some frozen bloodworms before shipping, the deteriorating food produces ammonia, bloodworms are easy enough to see, and rise out at the receiving end. The motion of shipping produces enough water flow to keep the media fed & oxygenated.

Wow, a Muck Mobilization Method, mmm!

Seriously, thanks Tolak! I think good forums like TFF should have an attached Wiki (still can't decide if I like that word) to store the collective practical information - this would be an example that should go in. There is the collection in the science section but I don't know what the feeling is about requirements there.

Suppose goes on a multi-hour trip to pick up mature media from another kind member, what are the outer limits for not using any ammonia source like bloodworms?
