hi guys, my tank has been struck down with marine whitespot, and im in a bit of a mess when it comes to treating them
my 2 clownfish, spotted manderin and neon goby (last one brand new to try and give everyone a clean) all have it, and the blue damsel seems oblivious to it

my friend has given me all the octozin i could need, but the instructions are a bit vague and i dont know how to implement them without overly stressing the fish or acting too slowly

it says to dilute to 1.017, over 2-3 weeks and apply dose over usual 3 days?

HELP PLEASE!?

What do you have in the tank? Any shrimp/inverts FOWLR or a reef? Do you have a quarantine tank?

I have just had whitespot and lost a few fish from it.

I used esha oodinex which is reef safe but I cant tell you if it worked? 2 out of 6 survived! and I did treat the tank twice! 1 week apart.

I also use a 24W UV sterilizer now.

What are your water stats? Was it a new addition that triggered it?

the clowns had it a bit before hand, there were a few light white speckles on them, and then it got worse when the new one went in, all my stats are normal now exept for the salinity which im slowly dropping with RO now for the octozin treatment.

just found my spotted manderin in a cave of one of the large lumps of live rock, being eaten by a hitch-hiker crab, really not happy now :(

More than likely the stress of a new addition. The fish wont like the drop in salinity and be aware that as the salinity lowers Ph swings are more likely and you could loose your stock from that!

thought of that ahead, im going to add some buffer in a bit so keep it stable, from what i've read its a neccessity to drop the salinity to get this treatment to work, its not ideal i know, but i dont have the space/money/ time at the moment to justify setting up a fish only copper quarantine tank :(
