Marine To Tropical

i have found a secondhand tank but it was used for marine fish is it safe to use for tropical fish once it has had a good clean ??

I've just gone through that change with the 620T I bought for £20 fom one of my customers on my postie round. He kept marine, so I gave the tank a good clean with vinegar and gave it lots of water rinses to remove most/all of the salinity before adding the fish in my sig to it about two weeks ago.

If the filter came with wet and in theory live bacteria, you can in theory acclimitise them gradually to a freshwater setup, replacing the initial marine water with ~20% fresh water every day or so.
