Actually Rabbut, the surface of the sun only runs 5500 to 6000K depending on which source you believe. A 14000K is more like the light would be after it filtered through many meters of seawater.
The surface of the sun may well be that, but once it hits the Earths atmosphereit starts shifting spectrum towards a bluer colour. Try compairing Daylight to room lighting next time you have a light on while it is light outside, and you will see what I mean...

Tube choice is entirely user preferance. So long as it is the right length and the right standord (T5 to replace T5's, T8's to replace T8's e.t.c) then it will be fine
