Hi,

I posted a while ago about setting up my new tank and you were all very helpful. The water is finally cycled and tomorrow we are going to get 3 male fancy guppies. I have been looking online as seen a variety of difference temperatures they need, one saying anything between 19c and 29c. I have set our heater to 26c, is this about right?

Also I have seen a lot of conflicting info about how often to feed them so looking for a bit of advice on that too (and how much).

Many thanks, this is my first tank and want to get it right.

this is how i set my tank up and what i feed them this is in no way the definite way but i have very happy colourful fish :D

Temp: 25 C

Feeding: whatever fits in between 2 fingers twice a day staple diet is Tetra min flakes and tetra prima mini granules mixed in a Tupperware box

once a week they get either frozen bloodworm, live brine shrimp or frozen cyclops :)

That's all the advice you need x

I run my guppy tank a bit cooler than most people because I find the slower growth in a cool tank means healthier, better quality adult fish. At 19C the guppies will be near their lowest temperature and at 26C they are just too darned warm for good health. My guppies almost always are kept around 22C and seem to do very nicely at that temperature. This is a picture of my guppy tank.

I usually use that picture to show decent fry cover but it is my guppy tank.

Thanks for your advice. We lot 3 lovely little male guppy fish this afternoon. They are happily exploring their new tank, and as far as my novice eye can tell they look really happy so far. They haven't been hiding at all and are very active. I got a mixture of food for them - some flakes, pellets and frozen bloodfish as a weekend treat!

I am so glad I researched beforehand as I never new beforehand about fishless cycling etc. I don't post much but reading on here had given me so much knowledge and confidence. I'm loving my new little kids already )

Oh, and by the way my 11 year old daughter named them Bob, Fluffy and Princess Conzuela Bananahammock (Spot the "Friends" reference!!)

Thanks for posting Joianni. Its a wonderful feeling to watch fish introductions to a well-cycled tank! Its a great family hobby.
