I've been thinking of adding some peat to my filters for a while now so I got some good quality sphagnum peat moss, made some little satchels out of old stockings and added them into my internal power filters.
2 questions
Have I set it up right?
How quickly does it affect the waters PH level?

PS while my water has a natual PH of 7.0 and this is fine for all of my fish, most prefer it lower (gourami and dwarf cichlids) and they have a better hatching % at lower PH
