Well I am starting to save up for a 5th tank for my room. The largest two I have are 15 gallons on the first floor. I am not sure how much this second floor can take as Japanese building code is a joke compared to American or Canadian code. If you believe it should be able to hold more please say so! Though there are very few cross sections when I took a peek.
For that reason I am considering a "low 60" fish tank. It is 10.56 Gallons and about two feet wide, 1 foot deep and 2/3 of a foot tall. The other option would be a regular height 9.5 gallon tank.
Is there any negative of such a low tank? Also what sort of filter would be best? Canister? Sponge? HOB? Corner?
As for heater I am thinking a manually controlled 200watt heater since homes here dont have central heating.
I dont want the water to be "too strong" for the size.
I am looking to recreate a specific part of the world with this tank. Make is a real natural habitat and which fish would benefit from the tank being low but wide. I know a 5 female Betta sorority would benefit in the sense that rice patties are low.
How about Gourami (Disease prone)? Danios? Just please no tetras. Ill be headed to the LFS in a bit over 12 hours. Ive been to that one once but already had 10X better advice than the others in this area.
Thanks in advance!
