low ph is not a bad thing at all. i guess i say that because we have very hard water down in south texas. but generally a low ph is good for a lot of fish. low ph means stronger fish, less algae, less disease, and it is great if you keep fish that originate from brazilian or south american waters. what i would not give to have that kind of water around here. but i do know that if the ph gets way too low, it can also be very horrible. 6.5 on up should be ok though.i don't think you should worry about the bacteria as long as the ph range is for the most part steady. ps. i really, really envy the water you get. it would be so much easier if i had that kinda water where i am at. my tapwater is high ph, filled with calcium and lime.
