my elephant snails have lost their antennae. there's no fish, just other inverts - shrimps and micro crabs. can they regrow their antennae, will it hurt them, and what may have caused it?

Swear that they are fine all you like...it'll still have been the crab. It's always the crab. And looking at your stocking it's 110% the crab.

What do you feed them? Not that it matters, when I was mis advised into having them in my tank I fed them all sorts. And they still attacked the corys, tried to catch neons and basically attacked anything they could get their claws on when it went dark.

not wishing to sound sad, but i think you're thinking of a different crab. these are Limnopilos naiyanetri. they're tiny and unable to attack things like corys. as well as this, they're filter feeders. they're not like red claws or anything......

No sorry you're right. I was thinking of red claw not micros. Micros are completely different, sorry lol, half asleep today. Well I have no idea how it got injured...perhaps it got a cut and the cut got infected or something.

The only thing I can think of is that the snail has it's tentacles retracted, I guess would be the word. When a shrimp gets too close to my snails, the snail knows the shrimp isn't going to do any damage to it, so it doesn't hide into it's shell, but sometimes it will shorten up and sort of retract it's tentacles. Somewhat hard to explain, but that's the only thing I can think of, check on it a bit later when it's climbing around and see if they are there.
