I came  home to find one of my Boesamani Rainbows had passed away. I don't know why I ran a ammonia test, and nitrite both came back at negative. I lost the dosing spoon for my nitrate test kit currently waiting for that to come in.

What is worrisome is that I have another Boesamani Rainbow who is appears to be sick as well. He's in the corner by the filter and not swimming with the other fish.

Any ideas? Tank is stocked (2 days now) I did cycle the tank.

Could shock of caused this?

What size is your tank and what else is in it? Boesemans should really be in numbers of 4-5 at least so maybe he's just lonely?

How did you acclimate them to the tank? Do you know what the water chemistry of the bag water was, compared to your tank water (in terms of pH, hardness, etc.) ?

I screwed up on the acclimation. I thought 30 mins was enough I floated their bag and added water to their bag every 5 minutes. I didn't test their bag water (only heard that tip after wards) after approx 30 mins I netted them and put them in the tank. This is why I think shock killed this one.

I also have a feeling I'm going lose one more, he's in the corner and isn't coming out for food etc.

Could well be. I think you ordered your fish online, am I right? In which case, you need to make sure that the water chemistries are similar before moving the fish. If you buy from a local fish shop, where the water chemistry is basically the same as yours, it's better to just temperature match, and get them in the tank quickly, so that ammonia doesn't build up in the bag.

Got home tested my water it was 160 PPM. My fish ate most of my duck weed :( I'm going to be ordering more.

I did a water change Nitrates still at 40 PPM. Nitrate battle sucks :(
