Looks Abit Empty

Should be okay but try and find a larger nic as they are a bit squishy when they are a bit small. But at the moment Ive got my 3 inch female nic holding territory against a 6 inch heros severus and winning the flare battles  , they should calm down soon though.

Don't know if you know but Red Jewels and Turq Jewels are different fish....sort of liek the difference between say a Convict and a Sajica.

im not to familiar with sajica but are they less aggressive? so it the red less aggressive or .... lol

I think Sajica are about the same as a con when not breeding but are utterly mental when they are. Ive heard of a lot of cases where a pair have started breeding and just wiped out a tank so maybe keep it single - also theres a good chance they will breed with the convict if they are different genders.

ye my turq is the dominate out of the two its really bight orange with turq spots all over it where as the red is dull brown with a few blue spots on it thats why i want to keep the 2 jewels so the turq is brighter

just a quick concern i was planning on getting a female nic but the rest like the con and jd are male would this prove a problem and also is the male nics colourful?

Ah thats not a red Jewel thats a Hemichromis bimaculatus, they are always dull.

ah right he was red when i bought him when he was in with more jewels so i thought it was because he not spawning or the dominate one

It depends, the females tend to stay brilliant red wheras the males fade.

I used to have 1 male in my Malawi tank, to be my 'red' for my tank, and he was always brilliant red.
