Looking For Useful Websites And Links!

I know it has already been said but I really like liveaquaria.com. For 2 reasons,

1. Its a quick source for getting the water specs that a specific species needs

2. There is a page on there that lists compatibility that I really like.

Plus, whenever I read something on there, you all seem to say the same thing. So I know I can trust that resource.

I hate to disagree Echo, but that site is horrid for fish info. I would not trust them on plecos at all. I would personally never buy anything from them either.

Their compatibility list says discus and angels kept together with caution. These fish live together in the wild- and by live together- I mean small schools of angels live within much larger schools of discus. I would not trust that page either.

I love FosterSmith for hard goods but do not trust them for anything live- or at least their information. I have never bought anything live from them so I can not really comment on the quality of what arrives.

lol wait what? i didn't mention a site except for back at the beginning of the thread LOL

Oops I meant stanleo- sorry ech0o- its what happens when one posts in the wee hours.

What if you link a topic from another forum to this one if the topic from the other forum answers an OP's question?

Sorry if what I just said makes no sense.

No, it made sense, and we would delete the link, if it were to a competing forum, as per Eagles' definition above.

LOL I actually did think you were talking to both of us!

I do think the minimum tank sizes are a bit small (50gl for a discus eesh) and I always just assumed when I read with caution that generally meant no.

But I do read the pH and temperature stuff is mostly go by.

But now that you mention it they say that crayfish and lobster are safe for fast moving fish. Saying nothing about when they sleep. But I still trust them more than other sites I have seen. Except this one.

stan- you are much better served for accurate fish info if you lose the live aquaria link and go to Mongabay and Badman's instead.

I always use Seriously Fish.

I use seriouslyfish, badmanstropical, and then try to find a species specific site - like planetcatfish.

Mangabay confused me (computer illiterate) and Badman's just made me sad. It says the dwarf gouramis live for 2-3 years. I have had mine for 2 years.

But Badman's is better. Hat's off sir!

stan- the easiest way to get the mongabay species info is via a Google search. Get the Latin name for the fish for the best results and type in "Latin name + mongabay" you will get a link right to that species profile in the first few results.

Listen to TTA, stan.  He's a search wizard! ;)

Google's like a temperamental woman - needs the right words entered to get what you want out of her aha :p

As long as the site you are looking for is a sponsor.
