Looking For Some Advice On Moonlighting

No, I'm not taking up a job on the street corner. lol

Ok now seriously, I've been looking at adding moonlighting for some time now to my main tank. I have a 55 gal tank that's pretty much 4 feet long and 2 feet high by 18" deep. I see all these things on ebay for moonlighting but quite honestly, I don't know how many lights I would need for a nice looking setup. Can anyone help me out with suggestions? Do any of you have pics with a tank of similar dimension?

Hi there,

I have a Rio 180 and I purchased an LED strip c/w transformer, IR receiver and a remote control off e-bay. The strip length runs the whole length of my tank just above the water line. They are fully waterproof and display red, green, blue & white plus variations on each colour. You can select each colour via the remote control which also brightens or dims the lights too. I believe you can specify the length you require directly with the seller. The UK sellers id is donedeal1966. Am really happy with mine.

full lenth of the tank... 2cm caps... go for min 18v.. (i have 25v) otherwise u dont see the shadows in the floor..

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll have to see if I can find something similar to that link except for the US. Shipping would kill me with those lights from the UK.

Are they easy to install? I already have 2 T5 tubes attached to the underneath of the tank hood so don`t know if I`d be able to fit these on as well?

Alright well I found a setup I'll be using. Hopefully it's not too much light but will have to see next week. I appreciate the help from everyone. All of your pics look very nice.

I have blue strip LED lights and I cam hoghly recomend them, they really highlight a blue stripe on my harlequin rasboras when they are on and means I can watch my fish after dark, I'm sure they would be great for people with nocturnal fish aswell!
