I'm trying to find the perfect species of fish to add to my 10 gallon breeding tank, particularly for when it's empty, but also when the fry are there, so that it doesn't have to be moved all the time. I wanted to add otos, but ten galloons probably wouldn't produce enough algae to supplement their diet. I'm not sure whether the fish I'm looking for even exists, but if anyone has any suggestions, here's what I'm looking for.
-most importantly, it should not eat fry. herbivore maybe?
-under 2" (it could be bigger, but that's what I'd prefer)
-be happy in a 10 gallon aquarium
-able to live alone (unlike otos, who have to live in groups)
-shouldn't disturb other fish too much (I mean, if I add a pregnant swordtail, she doesn't want to be stressed out by an aggressive fish)
-being somewhat hardy would help too
any ideas would be much appriciated!
