Long Overdue?

Aww, sorry to hear that, was following your post hoping all would be ok x

Such ashame , I was so hoping to come on one morning and see that uve had loads of fry from her. Poor thing! :rip: :byebye:

-hugs- really sorry!

I wonder though, if in the future, a small needle could be used to draw the fluid out, or would the stress kill the fish?

I think I would be worried about infections or other problems if you tried a needle. If you happened to miss what you were aiming for, you'd be in for big trouble. Guppies aren't very big as it is. Plus, if she WAS pregnant, I'd just be killing off some, if not all, of the babies.

Thank you all for your support. At least she's no longer suffering. :)

was just an idea :) I take lovonox, it comes in very very small needles, which made me wonder :) I wouldn't want to try it myself, but sounds good for a vet to do, if you can find vets to xray and needle a fish anyway.

Always the best way to see it when you loose something, I keep thinking that with my poor dog, at least he isn't suffering. :) Makes it a tiny bit better, but I dont think anything really makes it ok, if you know what I mean. I'm here to talk if you want. Warped, kinda weird, but here :)

She passed away around 4pm today. Autopsy revealed no babies, just a giant fluid sack. It was most definitely dropsy.

I wish i got here sooner dammit! :shout: I could tell from the first pic you put up that it was dropsy(just by looking at my guppies next to me in my nano tank),pregnancy in guppies happens more to the back and she was bulging at the front aswell.I was reading through the pages to see if anyone has mentiond dropsy but knowbody did :( .Sorry for your loss :-(

Yeah, someone suggested it on the guppy.com forums, so I looked it up and figured that's what it was and started treating her, but...considering I had her for a month and there's no telling how long she had it before then, it was a lost cause.
