Hi, I was given a pair of these shrimp which the lfs were selling as Indian Blue Shrimps (look more red to me)

Anyway, supposingly they will not attack fish despite their long claws, anyone know anything about them

I'll try and get some pics of mine later

Hi Thomas,

I have converted my q-tine tank over to be a shrimp only tank. At the moment it has about ten Amano (algae) shrimp and three long armed chameleon shrimp.

I found a site with useful shrimp info - http://www.shrimpcrabsandcrayfish.co.uk/ - this quote is about long armed shrimp "These shrimp, although they can become large in size, are usually quite peaceful, they can however be territorial and will compete for food, so shouldn't be kept with smaller or long-finned species of fish, like neon tetra and guppies. The larger species can cause damage with their claws, but, as long as their tank mates are of a suitable size, they are safe in a community aquarium."

HTH, Eddie

Thanks Eddie, already got that in my favourites, not sure if that is what I have. Check out the picture section for piccies of mine.

They seem to be quite aggressive though.

Yours look like shrimp to me - they do seem quite similar to some of those shown in the long armed section of the site.

My chameleons were a bit feisty at first - mostly amognst themselves but a little bit with the amanos as well. They seem to have settled down now and are only awkward if another shrimp invades their territory. They survived well (and grew a lot) whilst I was away on a long weekend.

Cheers, Eddie
