Lol Just Bought A Butterfly Fish

very unusual i have to admit,
he just looks like .... a boat? lol

anyways, what do you guys make of these fish?

Hmmm personally they gave me the heebie jeebies, all the floating about and staring at me unblinking lol

Just watch out for their jumping!! Make sure they cant jump out the tank and kep an eye on them spooking because if they spook at lights going on or tank maintenance etc, i've seen them jump hard and high enough to knock themselves senseless.

Other than that, watch out for any fish that fit in their mouth, they really are quite predatory and oportunistic.

I really Like these Guys and Have Always Managed to get them to take Pellets. But they will only eat if something is right in front of them. When feeding Mealworms A Pair of tweezers is a Must, as you have to dangle them infront of the their mouths basically.
They Like ALOT of Floating cover to feel secure, otherwise can be very jumpy and will JUmp Very Far.


Beechey, suprised you have not bought them from R+S as he always gets them in at under a fiver each, and sometimes gets the Gold Variety in.

agreed these guys are stunning,provided you take into concideration top cover plants all should be fine, there beautiful,but be careful dont under estimate them, floating plants a must,easiest way id say is duck weed, i have in each tank its great provided you keep on top of it, and throw away the build up,bit of a pain during maintainence but not a major biggie
