Live Chat Update.....

We are having a problem with the Live Chat at the moment.

There seems to be a bug in the software and we are trying to identify it and take the appropriate and corrective measures to amend the situation.


If possible, use mIRC to log onto the live chat as that still works to get to the chat room.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in the interim.

IRC is a hackers dream. I'll never go in there. Then again, the fish forums rooms are just too good to stay out of. Still, I'm not downloading mIRC ever again. Getz thez chatz fixzed! :smb:

Care to elaborate on this? I use IRC for customer support for my customers and sit in a few channels with friends.

And you don't have to use mIRC.

Eelzor what do you think the chat room??? Its on an IRC server. mIRC isn't any more susceptable to hacking than windows is its just a program designed to use IRC, fair enough any prog is gonna have doorways but if you're using a decent firewall (like Zonealarm) then you're doing as much as possible.

The way I look at it is that anything important or sensitive is stored off of the PC, anyone who really wants to hack your pc will, to date I've been using mIRC for over 6 years and havent had any probs but if I do I'll just reformat and start again.

oh believe me it is. But you see, I don't have zone alarm I suppose im just unlucky on mirc. But I got 7 viruses because of it, and I HAD zone alarm back then.

I'll install zl again and then go in mirc and see if I'm lucky

Well, I can say with confidence that you had to have contributed to the virus problem. Most likely they didnt come from IRC but there are known exploits, usually someone messaging you saying "type /load -rs hackme for free software" or something like that.

IRC is harmless, mIRC is almost harmless. 123943 users on EFNet right now can't be wrong.

Most Windows OS already have Microsoft Chat, you could use that.

you're piccy on your signature has really just freaked me out. I thought I had zonealarm configured down tight - but you've still managed to pick up dns, os and ie version - hmmm os and ie version info could cause probs, but the IP Address (although wrong) is close enough to make me look at my settings again.

On mine the IP is close, the ISP is wrong, the OS is correct and the browser is wrong, but that's the way I like it.
