Can anyone suggest the best liquid ferts to use (I'm in the UK), just started dosing with CO2 (the nutrafin method)and have seen a good improvment with the plants after 10 days, I'm running a 110ltr tank with a fluval U3 filter and wondering wether to add another nutrafin system and would it be better to join these up with a T connector or have two seperate diffusers, its a bow fronted tank and I thought that one diffuser either side would work.
Now heres the daft question!, after reading through some of the articles on here about EI I was wondering about ordinary plant food such as Phostregin and Miracle Gro to name just two, I do not have the confidence to enter the world of EI at this time and was wondering if ordinary plant food woul suffice as the make up seems very similar, if not advice on liquid ferts would be very welcome. :good:

I've been using this stuff for the past few months.

It's seems okay, my plants have been doing well ever since anyway.

Oh man don't use normal plant food. Miracle grow and other garden/house plant foods can have lots of ammonia (as a source of nitrogen) and phosphate. Ammonia in particular... You don't really want in a fish tank.

Thanks for the quick reply guys and will take on board what you say Katty now the next thing is the nutrafin question,I will have a nose at that thanks James :good:

One of the best liquid fertilisers going is TPN+, which contains all of the nutrients (micro and macro) that your aquarium plants need. I started on this fertiliser, with good results, but have now changed to EI ferts, which is basically the same, but is cheaper, and you can alter it for your personal needs. TPN+ is great for those who want good growth, but aren't confident enough (or obsessed enough) for EI.

cheers :good:
