Light Times...

Hey guys,
Im currently turning my tank light on at about 9 in the morning and tuning it off about seven. Are these good times? And will soon be getting some Moonlight LED's.

Hi, is your tank planted? if so then it should be fine, if not then it dosn't really matter how long they are on for.

Basically its got two small plants in it. Im re-doing the whole tank soon planting it and changing substrate.

And is it natural when you turn the light off all the fish panic and swin really fast against the glass for a few seconds?

I have mine on for around 10-12 hrs but my tanks not planted mine varys really

That reminds me i need to buy a timer!

My tank is planted & i have the lights on from 9am to noon. Then again from 4pm till 7pm. So 6 hours in total.

Hi, my fish dont panic when the lights go off so not sure really, maybe someone else will know. but the light times should be fine.

Ok cheers guys, just turned the light off then and they were'nt as mad lol. Maybe they'll get used to it.

All my tanks are on timers but that's purely because they're planted and with the dosage regime I don't want to see an explosion in algae.

Whatever your light regime is I would only adjust it slowly as it can stress fish when lighting is changed randomly.

A few of my fish go abit mad and swim around the tank as soon as the light is switched off too, they soon settle down though
