fish that sleep in, in the morning

sleeping in, sounds like a human trait, but in my main viewing area, that I watch with my morning caffeine, I’m watching the tanks often from 1st light, in the tanks to full lighting, and I don’t witness much sleeping in, with the exception of several tetras… most notable is the cardinals, of the fish I have currently, ( the sail fins do it as well, but there are not as many, are less brightly colored, and have a tendency to hang more to the back of the tank )…. I’ve posted before on this with other tetras, but, in my other non tetra tanks I’ve never witnessed the rolling out of sleeping areas taking often a half hour or more, after full lighting… any fish you guys notice that pretty much sleeps in, well after full tank lights are on???

Curious. I don't see that. But I have lights that come on gradually. Even if they aren't all LEDs with the sunrise/sunset features (I do like those, but they're pricey), the room comes alive with the real dawn, and I have my lights to come on in a staggered fashion, so tanks light each other dimly for the start up period. By the time the lights are on fully, the fish are all on the go.

I don't have lights set to snap on in a darkened room. Even my teenager/juvenile fish get moving with the full lights.

mine are similar, 1st lights that come on are plant lights in my work area, that light up the backgrounds 1st, they are on several timers, so that lighting slowly increases, and once I’m up and moving, I manually turn on the main tank lights, but with this, there has been several incremental lighting increases before the main lights are turned on… I noticed the same “sleeping in” pattern, and posted about that also with pristella’s, when I had those several years ago… I keep a half dozen tetra varieties in the same tank, so it’s quite noticable…

Funny how some fish are active at 1st light, and some seem to sleep in…

It doesn’t seem to be individual fish, I notice it by species…. In my South American tank, the Pristella’s just slowly start emerging from their hiding holes between an hour or two after the lights start coming on, the school is active until dark, they just aren’t a morning species here…. Same...
