Light Dimmers?

I find the main front lights in my tank are far too bright but im unable to find low output bulbs (fluorescent tube). I was looking at this ( http/cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dimmer-Socket-Switch-Light-Table-Lamp-Mains-Plug-/150423955081?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_PowerAdaptors_SM&hash=item2305f76689 ) Would this be ok to use with the light fitment?

Im not sure but why not use floating plants to dim the light in your tank? A nice species like Amazon Frogbit

NO. you need a fluorescent specific dimmer.
