Lazy Betta?

there is a button near the botton of the page called add reply : )

yeh but it's adding the quote :) see
no, thats when you click the "reply" button at the bottom of each post, after the last post is a button that says "add reply" next to the button that says "new topic"

"add reply" shouldn't have a quote, but "reply" does. but if you click "reply" then you can just delete the quote if you don't want it

Frodo is acting really wierd. When i got home, he had started to build a little bubble nest! but whenever i get too close he moves away from me. Frodo is still not eating! Will frodo bond to me in time?

Well I'm no expert but it's only been 2 days on the bonding right? I've had Wyatt for about 2 weeks, and I say it took a good week before I felt like he was o.k. with me (he did get sick immediately so that didn't help) however, the excellent advise I got when he wasn't eating inthose early days was to put a bit of garlic on the food..1st I used some that I had in the house and when that worked I went to the LFS and got a nice bottle of the the Kent stuff. I just let the food soke in a drop. I don't put the garlic directly into the water. Also my 2 goldfish go crazy for any leftover with that on it

so, any hosehold garlic will work? That would be cool. And is it a good sighn that frodo is building a bubblenest?

I believe the bubbles indicate he's relaxed...so with the garlic, cut off a little bit and crush it then kinda smear the juice on the food. I put a bit of water from the tank in the cup with the food and the garlic and let it soak a little so the food expands. then so as not to overfeed, I just do one bit at a time to make sure he eats it all because the sort of chew it, spit it out and chew it again if it's too hard. this is to hopefully prevent the constipation.

I want to try it, but my parents dont think its a good idea and are not allowing me. Thanks for the advise though!

Well, I'm a 44 year old mom (of a person) and I got that advice from the LFS specialty store if it makes any difference? perhaps others on here could corroburate my advice. the garlic is sold in fish stores to feed the especially picky saltwater varieties, but it's quite expensive about $20 an ounce, by Kent Marine... I updated the instructions on the previous post for how to do it with a bit froma clove at home

its not that we dont trust you. But that my parents think i need to "relax and Frodo will eat when he is hungry."

Mine is at 30'C (80'F) at all times. Bettas should be kept in a temperature range of 25'C-30'C (don't know what that is in Fahrenheit). The thing is...not only is your betta inactive, his metabolism has slowed down - this means that he's more prone to disease and other bad things. If the water is warmer his little body is working faster and he can fight off bacteria by himself rather than you treating him with fish medicine. I'm not saying that fish in 30'C NEVER get sick, but they have a higher chance to fight off the sickness by themselves.

P.S. Tropical fish "come" from the tropics which is also around 25'C-30'C.

yeah, that's what my husbnd said too, but I do have the luxury of not actually having to listen to him LOL.. the fish can go several days without eating.. think Minni3 is right about e temp, I'm pretty well convinced that a temp drop between the LFS and my house was a big part of why my fish got sick when I brought him home and he did respond to the heater right away, in fact he sleeps right by it at night when my house temp is down
