Well, Larry somehow got what I believe is SBD. >.< Hopefully not dropsy. I'm using Jungle Fungus clear and lowered the water forty percent. The strange thing is he flares and everything, but he swims sideways. Hopefully he'll make it through the night. I can't do much else besides fast him. I know what caused it, I did the big no no, I fed too much. He was on Ares' feeding schedule and Ares is three times bigger than him. D: I haven't had a betta in so long I'm off track. Anyway, let's all hope he pulls through.

Awe so sorry to hear your situation. I know i've got a betta with SBD right now to. Hoping he gets better soon. He started to get better about 5 days after he was swimming on his side. Then he looked normal for like 3 days and now he is back to being on his side again. I've fasted him and fed peas.

Here's an update. He's doing a fair bit better, but I don't know what it was. Could constipation have made him do that? I got home one day and he was on his side, I did a %100 water changes as the ammonia was high again. It's the end of his Maracyn treatment but I ended up starting a Jungle treatment, but I don't know how well that'll work as you leave Jungle in there longer and since I have to do a water change every day that'll be hard. About an hour after the change he'd perked up and went about usual. He was flaring and everything. But I'm fasting him for a while. He's mostly normal now, looks like he still has a bit of balance problems, but otherwise, he has more gusto than before. :dunno: He's a strange bugger.

Well, he's doing okay now. :good: I don't know what that was, could someone tell me?

I'm not an expert, KJ - but it sounds(ed) like swim bladder... that condition affects the fish's bouyancy... if he was swimming on his side - it's probably that. Fasting for 3-4 days is what I've heard... and then slowly get them back to eating normally. Overfeeding is a very common factor for SBD - but bacteria, parasites and stress can also cause it - from what I've read. Glad Larry's doing better though. If you think it might be from overfeeding... try the fasting and them feed him a bit of a pea (from frozen, thawed and shelled). But if he's okay now - no need to fast - just try to watch the feeding. Good luck with Larry!

Yeah, that's probably it. I've been feeding him roughly three pellets a day. To anyone who's been watching my threads, the ammonia in his tank is finally sorted out. :good:
