i recently bought a 4ft tank from a mate which had a pleco living in it so i agreed to take it on but it poos loads and im worried about the water quality of my tank should i take it aquarium or just do more water changes

Get a water testing kit and post your results :)

You should get a test for the following:

Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
pH

With your results people will be able to give more advice. Also, what's the history of the tank, ie. how long has it been set up? what fish have been in it?

or you could use the plec as an excuse for buying a bigger tank. B) my hubby says he won't be mad if i buy just one more tank that is big enough for my common pleco  to live out his natural life in comfort  for the moment he is in with my angels and rainbows. i buy a dozen ghost shrimp every weekend and they eat enough poop before the fish eat them that i can get away with vaccuming the gravel only once a week.
