Thats a nice piece!

but i have a non related question for you. is that a moss wall growing in your tank on the top corners? or maybe its a fake plant? looks great for hiding fry.

I don't usually go for fake plants but alas, these are plastic plants.

You are correct though, they make great areas for breeding and for fry to hide.

One problem (as with most fake plants), is that they can hold a lot of debris...and if you have a load of fry in there, you never want to clean em out.

I got them years ago from my local shop, I believe they were Aqua One branded 'grass mat' and were £8.99.

ps. another great thing with them is that they float, so when you do a water change the grass goes down keeping the fry safe, but you can of course stick them using suckers or whatever too.

is that a gulper cat from Pier? if so I love it :) sorry not thread related

GET OUT OF MY THREAD IF YOU'RE NOT BUYING WOOD.... :D :D :D

Haha, just joking. All talk welcome!

...

Yes, they are a pair of Gulper Cats but I didn't buy them from Pier Aquatics, though that is a shop I have always wanted to visit.

ps. do you know when they last had some in?

ha ha

I havent been for about 6 months or so but they always had a load in in very small tanks one in each. Only a half hour drive from us :good:

Do you remember size and price if I could ask?

It's true though, they don't need big tanks at all, since they don't actually do much. Extremely sedentary.

When I was looking to buy mine a couple of years ago I rang Pier and they told me they were, and I quote - 'NEVER' getting them in again. :grr:

ha ha if they are the same catfish they were about £45 and about 4-5 inch long

Wow, £45 that is very cheap for Gulpers. Are you sure they were Gulpers? People are asking over £200 each these days.

I paid £150 for my two at 7" and 8" when I got them.

Though that £150 included an extremely high quality custom made Seabray Aquarium/cabinet with external filter, heater and a big piece of bogwood.

Kind of offset by the 9 hour round trip to pick them up though like, lol. But I did get to go to posh southern Waitrose which has long been a dream.

But £150 for two large Gulpers with the tank setup was a major bargain I feel.

However, they are priceless to me now, they're the first fish I ever named (as an adult)
