I have a Kissing Gourami and a Firemouth in my 32 gallon and plan to add a adult Angel and 5 larger tetras/barbs at some point.
You could have a mix of a Firemouth and Convict and a plec (smaller type) along with another peaceful Cichlid like a Sajica.
Firemouths and larger Barbs (not the very large ones i mean like tiger barbs) are fine.
Angels will mix with Firemouths aslong as its 1:1 but your killifish and Rams will without doubt get munched/killed.
Kissing Gourami's are great but it depends on the length of your 30g and wether it is a Imp. 30g and not a US 30g
