are you using 9.5% solution and how much are dosing for 240 litres?

10.10 ml i dosed. No strengh on the bottle but i ran a test on 10 ltr of water before i dosed the tank and the tests showed it was 9.5 in strengh.

An hour after dosing i did a ammonia test on the tank and it showed 4-5ppm ammonia.

I calculated to 4 which gave 10.11.

Should i redose or leave it and then redose to 5 next time ?

as long as you dont go over 5ppm i cant see a problem, maybe add 11ml retest after an hour at next redose, might get stronger bacteria or more of them with a higher dose

Yes, it's still fairly rough. We use both the calculator and our eye on the color shade of the test result but we know it's still rough. We know we'd like to avoid getting the darker color of 8ppm, because somewhere up around 8ppm we are encouraging the wrong species of bacteria. At least seeking a good level is something to take a bit of fishless cycling boredom!

Always leave it mate...this is the hard the wait...it will go down when it ready, redoing will just fill the tank with more ammonia then it can process

Quick question mate your not using say the kitchen light to see the test are you, some lights tint the tube making it look like 1ppm?

No mate i go outside when i check as its still light at 19:00

I could not make my mind up if it was a little less green today i think it was more like 0.50 to be honest so i have redosed to 5ppm.

Next time i will not redose until 0.25 and below.

ah good stuff, check your ph once in while one of my tanks stalled as added bogwood and my waters crap going down to ph6.4 wich did alomst nothing
